Spatially Resolved Properties of Galaxies at 5 < z < 9 in the SMACS 0723 JWST ERO Field

We present the first spatially resolved measurements of galaxy properties in JWST ERO SMACS0723 field. perform a comprehensive analysis five $5<z<9$ galaxies with spectroscopic redshifts from NIRSpec observations. SED fitting BAGPIPES, using NIRCam imaging 6 bands spanning wavelength range $0.8-5\mu$m. produce maps inferred physical by novel approach study high redshift galaxies. This method allows us to internal structure and assembly generations find clear gradients both empirical colour maps, as well most estimated parameters. regions considerably different specific star formation rates across each galaxy, which points very bursty star-formation happening on small scales, not galaxy-wide. The integrated light is dominated these regions, exhibit strong line emission detected also broad-band images, equivalent width [OIII]+H$\beta$ reaching up $\sim3000-4000$\AA rest-frame regions. Studying an yields extremely young ages stellar population ($<$10 Myr), outshine older populations that are only distinguishable maps. leads inferring $\sim0.5-1$ dex lower masses aperture photometry, when compared analyses. Such systematics would have implications shape evolution mass function at early times, particularly while samples limited numbers brightest candidates. Furthermore, evolved revealed this imply extended process could otherwise be hidden behind recently formed stars.
